INTRODUCTION
The
dramatically technology changes nowadays have improving the function of HR.
Existing web based software make the user more facilities and easy for
interactive between each other’s. Along from week five and seven, I have learn
about three of Web base, which is web based employee learning and development,
web based occupational health and safety and web based compensation and
planning. Three of this web based has their own roles in order to assist HR
function. There are many advantages by using web based technology compared with
traditional way.

WEB BASED EMPLOYEE LEARNING AND
DEVELOPMENT
Learning
is the of training and development activity, the outcome of learning are
skills, competences, cognitive, tacit knowledge and other skills. Knowledge is
generated by organization knowledge, individuals and learning which is
integrated learning of everybody in an organization and also gaining of
knowledgeable individuals (Grant, 1996). HR department plays
as an important in identifying where among employees, what types of knowledge
are lack, and on what level this knowledge facilities to attaining present and
for future goals (Sponner, K & Soliman, F,
2000).
the effectiveness of individual learning plans and events is depending on
training and development interventions. a successful learning if it leads to
transfer of learning can change behaviour employees.
Web
based training can provide various conducive to learning. These features can include
various dimension of web-based learning environment. For example ease for use,
self-contained, interactivity, multiple expertises, convenient online support
security, virtual cultures, cost effective and others. Engagement theory based
on online learning focused that employee must be meaningful engaged in learning
activities through interaction between others and worthwhile tasks (Kearsley, G &
Shneiderman, B, 1999)
A
good designed web based training course with intuitive interfaces will
anticipate the learner’s need to explore the unknown, therefore will reduce
learner’s frustration level and convenient a user friendly learning
environment. Besides that, the hypermedia environment in a web based course
give learner to explore and discover resource to fit with learner needs. Other
than that web based training course can be created to promote authentic
learning environment by overcoming real-word problems and any matters that
relevant to the learner.
The
advantages using web based learning can be divided into three which is one is
about logistic. By using web based training is its flexible, distributed
delivery that provides the learner to learn any time and any place. The learner
does not to come to a training room. All the training content directly appears
at learner desktop at home or at worksite. Another, logistic advantages are the
facilities to access to any information that are available on other world wide
web. The content can be updated very fast, therefore web based lesson are more
updated information.
The
second is about instructional, web based training provides a powerful tool for
instructional environment (Starr, 1997). It ability to
provide a rich multimedia for the learner, the stimulus for learning including by
video segment, audio, animation, text and graphic. Meanwhile for economy side
web based training is lower costs compared to the traditional way, as I
mentioned before the learner do not to travel to training place and the web
based training course maintenance are much less than traditional way. The
example company is using these way is Remedy Interactive company.

WEB BASED OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND
HEALTH
Canada
is the first country that has establishes occupational health and safety issues
in the late ninetieth century besides existing safety standard. Early
twentieth, each of jurisdiction in Canada had passed factory laws to regulate
lighting, heating, hygiene, ventilation and also accident reporting. Other than
that factory inspectors were appointed in each region to enforce this standard,
beside that to conduct regular’s inspections at workplaces.
Occupation
health and safety program are very important for both of employees and
employers. They should care about occupational and health for legal, economic
and moral reasons. Every parties have own role in occupational health and
safety, manager should to monitor the workplace and make sure are going with
safe practices. In addition organization need to provide a written OHS policy
and display it at workplace, moreover also required to prepare and provide
equipment, protective devices and materials, make sure the condition of
workplace is free from hazard and serious risk, monitor their workplace and
reporting all the total injuries, critical disabling as well as toxic
substances and occupational illness existing health and safety committees give
awareness to their employee by conducting health and safety training.
Therefore
as employees of an organization have a role to play in occupational health and
safety. They are required to perform their task in safety manner and need to
obey all of safety regulations. All the workplace hazard and defective
equipment should to report to the safety professionals. By using systematic
information in order to manage occupational safety, today most of company are
choose to develop it OHS software for controlling and managing the OHS program.
Before this system was developed, an organization managing the OHS affairs by
using manually such as reporting the entire inquired and workplace hazard with
book keeping. Each employee has their own file report; compare using online
database where all the detail of employees is only in company OHS portal. An
example OSH forms 300 recording all reportable work-related injured and
illness. Therefore administrative are required to ensure the records was
updated for OSHA inspections. By using the application it facilities the
administration to make any decision for any employees need to attend safety or

WEB BASED COMPENSATION AND PLANNING
The
rapidity of technology and speed of development compensation software product
indeed mirror of rapid-changing. Nowadays organization should to be innovative
in developing compensation package to attract talent. According to Berhart,
2000 effective compensation system is designed to help business operations
align with business objectives. There are four key summaries in compensations
system (Milkovich & Newman, J.M,
2005).
There is internal structure, external structure, pay for performance tools, and
administrative tasks. One of the example software that offers compensation is
by SAP (Frantzreb, 2004).
For
internal software that are including hierarchy of job level, features used to
identify the pay differences and also pay differences among the job level (Milkovich & Newman, J.M,
2005).
To ensure that its compensation system is equity the organization should
conduct job evaluation, performing compensation analysis and also compile pay
grade.
Then
to maintain external equity an organization should to combine construct pay and
market salary data for common categories salary. using My SAP suite a module

program give a comparative analysis of compensation which is including variable

line manager, financial department and also accounting department. My SAP HR
software is centralized, therefore employee database is combining with
performance management, staffing and recruiting data and training beside shared
with other relevant system.
