BLOG 1: Information and Competitive
Advantages
In
this week, I learnt about using the information system to gain competitive
advantages, today information systems and technologies is significant for
managers, business professionals, and other than those knowledge workers in
today’s internetworked enterprises. All
the information systems play a vital part in the e-business and also in
e-commerce operations, enterprise collaboration and management, and strategic
success of businesses that should operate in an internetworked global
environment. Others
than that organization can succeed in
the long run if it successful by developing the strategies to confront five
competitive forces that shape the structure of competition in its industry such
as , threat of substitutes, rivalry
of competitors within its industry, bargaining power of customers and
bargaining power of suppliers. , threat of new entrants
Meanwhile
information technology have it roles in business process which is it can
substantially increase process efficiencies, to improves communication and to
facilitate collaboration. Because of advances in information provision have led
organizations to attempt to develop information technology (IT) strategies
which link up with their business strategies and which together carry corporate
missions (Rogerson et al, 1994). Beside by using Information system the
organization can struggle with their among same area business competitor.
Information system can give support to the organization in business processes
and operations, decision making by employees and managers and also strategies
for competitive advantage. Rosenbluth International agencies is the one example
use information system into their strategy which is first, this company decided to get out of
the leisure travel business, instead becoming
a purely corporate travel agency. Next, they have decided to rebate customers with the whole commission the agency receives and instead bill customers by service that
has been provided. They uses a comprehensive Web-based business travel
management solution which is integrates
Web-based travel planning technology, proprietary travel management
applications, policy and their profile management tools, and seamless front

BLOG 2 : Human Resource
Recruiting and Staffing
For week
six I have learnt about e-recruiting from my friend’s presentation. Staffing is
the human resource management process of identifying attracting, hiring, and
retaining people with necessary knowledge, skill and attitudes to fulfil the
responsibilities of current and future in an organization. There are having two
main elements in staffing which is recruitment and selecting. According to
Banjoko (2003), employee recruitment is the process of reaching out, and
attracting a large supply of people or a large pool of interested applicants
from which the organization can choose those it considers competent or most
qualified for the job.
Recruitments are the important elements in human resources management
process, correctly matching the workforce for the continuity of the firms and
also the major issues for the productivity of firms. There are various methods
for recruitment. The mainly two groups are used by organizations is from
internal resources and external resources. Mostly today in searching the supply
of people in large pool applications, firms will choose to use by computer and
internet. The advantages of modernity to create Web sites by most organization
become more increase today, especially in technology era. According to the
Cober, 2004 internet is the important source to candidate and also employer.
Meanwhile Galanaki 2002 state that online recruitment have their own benefits
such as can reduce cost, shorter recruitment cycle time,
better quality of response, gives the company a more up-to-date image, reaches
a wider range of applicants, attracts the passive job- seeker, provides global
coverage at a constant basis.
Although there are lot of advantages by using
recruitment online, here there are several things that some organization needs
to consider before create Web Cober at el., 2004: 627-631):
Esthetical:
This
related to the web sites’ colour, type script, pictures etc. The esthetical
features of web sites have very importance to attract the consumers and have
emotional contact with them. It is because the first impression of candidates
occurs when the web was esthetical.
Playful
characteristics: Playful are animation elements, example
is the voices, image and also videos that give lively excitement to the web
sites’ users. The factor analysis shows that one of the causes of participators
‘evaluation is playfulness, excitement and display. Those features affect the
users positively.
Practicability:
While
preparing the display of web sites. Organizations messages should be given to
the applicants clearly and directly then display of the site shouldn’t bind the
messages. It is important to make them interesting without complicated
information. Keep it short and simple.

BLOG 3: Web Based
Employee Self Service
Self-service
can encourage employees to manage their personal HR profiles with respect to a
variety of functions; an example is benefit and retirement plan monitoring or
computerized training, beside that to using HRIS-based systems to complete
numerous personnel forms). Usually self-service applications are available most
of the day throughout the week and also Employees log on to the system, where
their identity is legitimate and verified. Then appropriate change options are
offered to the employee based on certain parameters that control the areas
where the employee is allowed to make valid alterations to the HRIS like job postings,
personnel data updates, and desired training. One fairly large financial services
organization noted that employee self-service options radically enabled them to
reduce the annual benefits open-enrollment process which is can reduce the
paper generated, necessary mailings, and also can reducing the data that had to
be read and entered into the HRIS. Here they are some of an example employee self
service that using by Team Georgia Connection:
Firstly,
they should log in at Team Georgia Website, then key in their employee password
Then,
under employee self service they can click payroll to requires pay check list
Finally,
they able to view their detail of pay check.
The Employee Self-Service module
gives a range of features that employees can use to update and maintain their
information immediately. Here there is many of benefits use employee self
services for employee itself which is:
·
Be able to begin their own change of address
and update contact phone numbers when these change.
·
Beside that they able to see the various benefit
plans available to them and with open enrolment able to choose the benefits which
they want to sign up for or drop out of.
·
Be able to check their job title, supervisor’s name
and department information in Employee Self-Service. Even though these items
are frequently only viewable but not editable to employees, they can aware the
proper people when they think this information is wrong
·
Be able to know how much money they make for their
job and if they see some mistake or different amount in the Employee
Self-Service module the employee will alert their supervisor and probably
payroll to get corrected back.
·
They also can be able to identify their Performance
appraisal through Employee Self-Service.
·
Be able to take on-line training classes via this
the portal beside that’s the supervisor can give suggestion to them attend a
certain class in that module and they will be encouraged with reminders to take
the class until they have done or complete.

CONCLUSION
From
the three of blog that I have wrote, I can conclude that information system
human resource can greatly increase efficiency and response times of various
traditionally. Beside that specific benefit of human resource information
system improving planning and development using decision support software,
other than that can get faster information processing an example by using
e-recruitment, all the information can collected in one way by enter all the
detail of candidates into our company website, simultaneously it also can
decrease administrative and HR costs. By using information technology in
business can change the way business to compete. A strategic information system
can helps an organization to gain, reduce competitive advantages or meet
strategic enterprise objectives also. In order to success a business must
develop the information technologies can be used to implement various of
competitive strategies such as in improving business process, promoting
business innovation, lock in customers and suppliers, creating switching costs,
